The playground today comes from Dwight Eisenhower. It’s a great quote. He said that, “I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensible.”
The idea for an entrepreneur is, when we have that white-knuckled attachment to the outcome that we want, then we tend to be inflexible. We tend to get stuck. The idea is to plan, be really clear on what it is that you want, but when it comes time to act, you’ve got to throw out that plan and really dance in the moment with what’s there.
No matter what we do, things are going to go sideways in some way that we can’t anticipate. As long as we’re clear on what it is that we want, then we can make changes on the fly as we move forward.
