“In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but how many can get through to you.”
— Mortimer J. Adler
Go Deeper to Go Forward
The DTK Reading List for Becoming More
This is not a list of books to help you do more.
It’s a collection designed to help you see more clearly, think more deeply, lead more consciously, and become more fully who you are.
Some of these books will challenge you. Some will affirm what you already know. A few may change the way you see yourself, your work, your relationships, or the life you’re building.
There is no required order. No finish line. No prize for reading them all.
Follow your curiosity. Start where there’s energy. Revisit what speaks to you.
Because the journey forward so often begins by going deeper.
To make that journey easier to navigate, I’ve organized the books into seven sections:
- self-knowledge and adult development;
- meaning and purpose;
- Time, Effort, Energy, and Attention;
- the neuro-informed mind;
- relationships and conscious leadership;
- entrepreneurship and organizational growth; and
- important books by friends and loved ones.
Each section offers a different doorway inward, because becoming a better leader rarely happens in just one part of your life.
