Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #052 – Just three ingredients!"Failure is inevitable. Quitting is a choice." True? Yes. New? NO! And after 3 decades as an entrepreneur, I have heard it so many times and in so many ways (and attributed to so many people) that I'm bored by it!The inevitability of failure is not interesting here. It's a fact of life. A given. And the quitting-is-a-choice platitude offers nothing for moving forward. It's quicksand. A trap that misses the essence of overcoming obstacles and failing forward. What is really important is how simple the formula is to succeed. It's a recipe. And its one that Napoleon Hill gave us all in the middle of last century:"Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success."Like any ingredient list, these are listed by volume. Building my 'patience muscle' has made me a better leader, a better coach, a better partner, a better parent … a better human! Persistence has enabled me to drive through the unknowing, the discomfort, the fear instead of leaning into the warm instant gratification of stopping. And perspiration has been lubricant for the gears.Easy? No. But Hill is right. It's an unbeatable combination! What's your recipe?

“Failure is inevitable. Quitting is a choice.” True? Yes. New? NO! And after 3 decades as an entrepreneur, I have heard it so many times and in so many ways (and attributed to so many people) that I’m bored by it!

The inevitability of failure is not interesting here. It’s a fact of life. A given. And the quitting-is-a-choice platitude offers nothing for moving forward. It’s quicksand. A trap that misses the essence of overcoming obstacles and failing forward.

What is really important is how simple the formula is to succeed. It’s a recipe. And its one that Napoleon Hill gave us all in the middle of last century:

“Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.”

Like any ingredient list, these are listed by volume. Building my ‘patience muscle’ has made me a better leader, a better coach, a better partner, a better parent … a better human! Persistence has enabled me to drive through the unknowing, the discomfort, the fear instead of leaning into the warm instant gratification of stopping. And perspiration has been lubricant for the gears.

Easy? No. But Hill is right. It’s an unbeatable combination!

What’s your recipe?
