Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #059 – Success is a flawed currency.I like success. I do. A lot! It feels food to win, to enroll a new client, to celebrate a client's success, to reach a new income mark, to celebrate 10 years as a coach, and on and on. And it seems a safe bet that all of us like success, too. In fact, given the average facebook timeline, everyone IS a success. I could get used to an uninterrupted diet of success. But it gets boring. Don't get me wrong. I'm not ungrateful. I've simply learned that success feels good, but it teaches very little. And learning is the REAL win. So what comes up for me is:"Failure is not trying. Don't be afraid to fail."Sara Blakely's quote resonates with me because one of my deepest values is lifelong learning. And there is SO much more learning available in every failure than in any success. AND, it gets worse. Since so many folk have fallen out of the habit of slowing down enough to celebrate their wins, they definitely don't take the time for a post-mortem … so there's even less learning in success. A good fashioned post-mortem is a powerful tool for learning: Pause. Take an objective stance. Unpack. what happened. What worked. What didn't. Options. Ideas. Decisions. Outcomes. Mine for insights. Dig for learning. After every failure (and every win, too)! So, truly, the only failure is not trying …What will you try right now?

Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #059 – Success is a flawed currency.

I like success. I do. A lot! It feels good to win, to enroll a new client, to celebrate a client’s success, to reach a new income mark, to celebrate 10 years as a coach, and on and on. And it seems a safe bet that all of us like success, too. In fact, given the average facebook timeline, everyone IS a success. I could get used to an uninterrupted diet of success. But it gets boring. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not ungrateful. I’ve simply learned that success feels good, but it teaches very little. And learning is the REAL win. So what comes up for me is:

“Failure is not trying. Don’t be afraid to fail.”

Sara Blakely’s quote resonates with me because one of my deepest values is lifelong learning. And there is SO much more learning available in every failure than in any success. AND, it gets worse. Since so many folk have fallen out of the habit of slowing down enough to celebrate their wins, they definitely don’t take the time for a post-mortem … so there’s even less learning in success. A good fashioned post-mortem is a powerful tool for learning: Pause. Take an objective stance. Unpack. what happened. What worked. What didn’t. Options. Ideas. Decisions. Outcomes. Mine for insights. Dig for learning. After every failure (and every win, too)!

So, truly, the only failure is not trying …

What will you try right now?
