@Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #078 — The Genie Won’t Fit Back In The Bottle

Bertrand Russell’s quote got me thinking …

“Fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people are full of doubts.”

I notice that I fixated on the last three words. And here’s what bubbled up:

In 2005 I started a journey of self-compassion, healing, and unleashing. As part of that journey, I had to develop the practice of questioning every ‘truth’ and challenging ‘reality.’ Everything of which I had been certain open to being rewritten. Everything. That’s a double-edged sword. On one hand, it allowed be to redraft my world and become the coach and parent and partner and son and friend that I am today (and whatever version of each of those I will become in the future). On the other hand, since everything is made up, it can leave me doubting the author (me) and each line of the story.

With all of that said, here’s what I’m certain about: the more self-aware I have become and the more driven by purpose I have become, the more I long for the irrational exuberance that came with being uninformed. Not that I’d ever want to go back …. that genie is out of the bottle!
