Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #057 – It's only crazy until you do it!Over my nearly three decades as an entrepreneur, it's embarrassing how many times I've thought about, looked at, or even started to plan something out and heard myself saying: "Nope. That's impossible." The fear came up and I just shut down. It was almost a primal self-protection reaction. (I feel my stomach tightening as I write this!) And I'm amazed at the opportunities I missed out on because of that knee-jerk response to the fear.​The thing that I missed out on the most was captured perfectly by Walt Disney:​"It's kind of fun to do the impossible."And I've proven that to myself over and over again. EVERY single time I have faced the fear and leaned in to do the impossible … it's been an amazing ride. Yes, more often a raucous roller coaster ride than a lazy-day river boat ride to be sure. But FUN as hell! ​​ Isn't that always the way? Facing the fear and doing it anyway? That's where the energy is. That's where the electricity is. That's where the fun is! After all, it's only impossible until you do it!For me, right now, my "impossibility" was getting my damned book written! And I let the lie of 'that's impossible' keep me from starting. Over my nearly three decades as an entrepreneur, it’s embarrassing how many times I’ve thought about, looked at, or even started to plan something out and heard myself saying: “Nope. That’s impossible.” The fear came up and I just shut down. It was almost a primal self-protection reaction. (I feel my stomach tightening as I write this!) And I’m amazed at the opportunities I missed out on because of that knee-jerk response to the fear.
