Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #076 — Learn from the past. Live for the future.

The farther into the future I look, the fuzzier my crystal ball becomes. Predicting the future is hard enough, trying to make sense of life while looking forward is impossible. Equally impossible is trying to live your life while stuck in or fixated on the past. That would be like attempting to write the next chapter while obsessively rereading the last chapter.

Soren Kierkegaard put it simply more than a century ago:

“Life must be understood backwards; but… it must be lived forward.”

For me, the TRUE pearl of wisdom to extract from this Kierkegaard mic drop is not to let my “up until now” define my “from now on.” Yes, that which has happened before provides a rich field of learning. However, my past need not predict nor shape my future … unless I let it. I am truly at choice!

What is possible for you when you live forward?
