Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #161 — Learn, Break, Serve!
I live a dichotomy …
As a life-long learner and mastery-junky I am constantly diving in and always willing to dive deep. I’m even prone to over-YESing leading to some seriously overloaded stretches on my calendar (ask me about 2016!). I even chose to swear off collecting letters after my name when I realized that I have the same number of letters after my name as I have in my name!
I’m also a rule-breaker. I don’t like them. I don’t like being constrained by them. I don’t think they apply to me (just ask my mom). And I don’t think they should … though I do tend to get cranky when others break rules…
So how do I resolve living in that conflict?
Thanks to a Tblisi-born children’s author: I don’t have to!
“Only those who actually know the rules may break them.”
— Tamuna Tsertsvadze
I LOVE THAT! In fact, the better I know the rules, the better I understand the structures, and the more mastery I have of the craft, the better I can break the rules in service of my gifts … the better I can serve my purpose and my tribe.
AND … the better you know the rules the better you can break them in service of your growth, your purpose, and your tribes.
Entrepreneurs break rules. Leaders break rules. I break rules!
How do you break rules?
