Mindset Mondays with DTK – Ep #179 — Clear Better. Clear Faster.
There’s an energy management technique I learned many years ago called “BMW.” Nope. Nothing to do with the car company. BMW = Bitch, moan, whine.
Left to my own devices, I used to rattling on in a negative way about whatever challenge I was facing or whatever obstacle I encountered. I’d grouse about it to anyone who would listen… and if no one listened, I’d still prattle on to myself.
“How does it help … to make troubles heavier by bemoaning them?”
Short answer: it doesn’t.
That’s where BMW comes in. At the time I heard about this, BMW offered the 3 Series, the 5 Series, and the 7 Series. So when it comes to energy management, when you have something to kvetch about, here’s what you do:
1: Decide on a time frame (seconds, minutes, hours, or even days),
2: Set a duration (3, 5, or 7), and then
3: Bitch, Moan, and Whine to your heart’s delight right up until the end of the time you’ve given it. Get it all out. Purge that negativity. End the energetic drain.
With that energy leak plugged, THEN you can get back to being intentional, back to focusing on the present, back to creating your future.

This is a simple and powerful tool to honor the upset, give it a container, and then get on with living.
