Episode #111 — Here’s to not knowing!

Right now, we simply don’t know. We don’t know how long these challenging times will last. We don’t know how we, our families, our friends, our business, or how our economy will be impacted. Nope. Nothing.

As leaders (and in times of uncertainty we are ALL leaders, aren’t we?) that lack of knowing does not give us permission to get off easy, to stop short, or to give anything less than our best.

“Do the best you can until you know better.
Then when you know better, do better.”
— Maya Angelou

Here’s what I do know: every day we do and will know more. And the more we know, the better we can do. When we face these challenging times by cataloguing all that we do not know, we cheat ourselves – and those we lead – of our power to navigate change and create a new normal.

Alan Kay taught us that “The best way to predict the future is to invent it.” Invent from what you do know. As you know more, you’ll do better.

What do you know right now?
